Potential for growing ‘Fuji’ apple in Hokkaido under climate change

نویسندگان

چکیده

With its cold climate, Hokkaido grows early- to middle-maturing cultivars of apple. ‘Fuji’, a late-maturing cultivar, is the most popular apple in Japan, but it not grown Hokkaido. Warming due climate change could make suitable for growing ‘Fuji’. We estimated lower temperature limit ‘Fuji’ from annual and seasonal (April October) mean temperatures collected as mesh data orchards Hirosaki city 1982 1991. The coastal region western predicted become by about 2050 under MIROC5 RCP8.5 RCP2.6 scenarios, inland RCP8.5. It will be necessary select appropriate each cropping on basis anticipated future Greenhouse Gas emission trends or conditions.

Growing sensitivity of maize to water scarcity under climate change

Climate change can reduce crop yields and thereby threaten food security. The current measures used to adapt to climate change involve avoiding crops yield decrease, however, the limitations of such measures due to water and other resources scarcity have not been well understood. Here, we quantify how the sensitivity of maize to water availability has increased because of the shift toward longe...

Modeling Current and Future Potential Distributions of Caspian Pond Turtle (Mauremys caspica) under Climate Change Scenarios

Although turtles are the most threatened taxonomic group within the reptile class, we have a very limited understanding of how turtles respond to climate change. Here, we evaluated the effects of climate changes on the geographical distribution of Caspian pond turtle (Mauremys caspica). We used an ensemble approach by combining six species distribution models including artificial neural network...

Climate analogues suggest limited potential for intensification of production on current croplands under climate change

Climate change could pose a major challenge to efforts towards strongly increase food production over the coming decades. However, model simulations of future climate-impacts on crop yields differ substantially in the magnitude and even direction of the projected change. Combining observations of current maximum-attainable yield with climate analogues, we provide a complementary method of asses...

Potential geographic distribution of Prangos ferulacea (L.) Lindl. in Chaharmahal va Bakhtiari province under climate change scenarios

Prangos ferulacea (L.) Lindl is a perennial plant that besides fodder and medicinal values the plant can help to control soil erosion. There is little knowledge about the effect of climate change on the Prangos genus especially P. ferulacea. In this study, we used ensemble modeling based on five species distribution models to predict the potential effects of climate change on the future geograp...
